Love 365: Day Sixteen - Twenty-Two

I love how I'm cautious-- even if it's a little too much at times. I want to work at being a little braver, so someday I can write about how I love that.

I love that I speak my mind and do my best not to compromise my values.

I love my big butt. Girls always complain that they don't want their butts to look big, but I've come to appreciate carryin' some junk in the trunk.

I love that I'm becoming less afraid of what other people think of me.

I love that I'm a large child rather than an adult. When I was little, I was very serious and didn't really enjoy playing or being around other kids as much as my peers did. As I've grown up, I've learned to take myself less seriously and really enjoy life.

I love that I'm not ashamed of how much I love trashy TV. Is this a cop-out compliment? Maybe, but I've been watching so much Jersey Shore lately that I can't help mentioning it.

I love my bleeding-heart liberal ideals. I'm not a total hippie or anything, but I'm probably getting closer and closer to being some sort of flower child as I grow up. And you know what? I like it. I know a lot of people get more conservative as they age, but I hope that's not the case with me. And, by the way, I'm absolutely crushed that my home state of Massachusetts chose Scott Brown for senator. Sorry, you guys!

I love how brave I am for listening to my soul, for the fierce journaling and searching and desire to know myself. I love how that journey has taken me to delicious places, deepened my relationships, and helped me befriend my body. I love my whimsical dreamy nature. I love that when I filled out a questionnaire at a gym, and was asked what I wanted to work on - what bodily areas needed attention - I actually thought, Um, None. Because I work out for different reasons, like, I love how my body feels when I'm moving. And for that amazingly sexy perspective, I have to thank yoga.

I love that I'm a good cook. I'm a creative person and I like activities like drawing or writing that actually produce physical results, and I've discovered that cooking has kind of the same effect. I love trying a new recipe and putting all these pieces together and maybe tweaking them a little and producing something delicious and fulfilling. Plus cooking has a fun social side, where you can bake cookies with your friends or have a potluck dinner and enjoy the "fruits" of your labor (oh my god, there are so many opportunities for terrible food puns right now...) Cooking makes me feel connected to loved ones and proud of a teeny-tiny (but still important) achievement.

I agree with a cat of impossible colour. It's so nice to see some positivity, especially during times like these. Too many people forget that there's still so much to love in this world.

Hey, I never knew you were from Massachusetts! I am too! Sorry to disagree with you ... but I was very pleased when Scott Brown won! :) It's cool to see how different everyone's opinions are, though ... and I totally respect yours! PS: the "I like big butts" song made me laugh out loud!
