Random Things I Like: John Cleese with Lemurs

Really random, I know. John Cleese, a.k.a. one of the funniest Brits on Earth and member of the Ministry of Silly Walks, actually does quite a bit of work with lemurs. They're his favorite animal-- he even has a species named after him. The documentary I posted above is humorous and informative, which you may have expected from a Cambridge-educated former Monty Python member, not to mention adorable. Lemurs are freakin' adorable. You can watch the entire documentary on Youtube if you're hooked after that first part-- I was.

Did you know?
-Lemurs are "pre-primates," meaning you can sort've consider them to be our super super super distant cousins.
-Lemurs are only found in the wild in Madagascar.
-According to National Geographic, lemurs may have floated over to Madagascar on rafts made of vegetation-- how adorable is that?
-A group of lemurs is called a troop.
-Lemurs hop.
-The teensiest lemurs can weigh as little as one ounce. (Really, just try not to go "awww!)

Oh and also? Lemurs are endangered. Wanna help them? Go to Save The Lemurs to find out more!

What cool animals do you dig lately?

My boyfriend loves lemurs and really wanted us to go to Madagascar just to see them. While I researched volunteering opportunities that involved working with lemurs, he found out about all the deadly diseases over there and changed his mind. Haha! Maybe one day. Very cute pics!! :)
